Meet Kari Smistek. She is a graduate of our Earn While You Learn program who now supports AMR Western New York as a field training officer, paramedic in Buffalo, NY. Not only does Kari give back to her community through her work as a frontline first responder, but she also works as a tenured instructor, helping fellow EMTs and students obtain their industry certifications. Having become a true testament to the possibilities attainable through EMS, we proudly celebrate Kari’s journey and look forward to the continued impact she brings to GMR.

Our CEO Nick Loporcaro had the opportunity to meet with CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and senior leadership in Washington, D.C. Their discussion highlighted how GMR is advancing the future of Emergency Medical Services through innovations like our Nurse Navigation program. They also addressed key policy needs for the EMS community, including long-overdue updates to Medicare’s ambulance service fee schedule. Nick closed the meeting by thanking Dr. Oz for prioritizing EMS in the new $50B Rural Health Transformation Program—an important step toward strengthening care in communities across the country.
GMR is proud to share that we are partnering with Spring Health to expand mental health support for our employees and their families across the organization. Our teams work in high-intensity, high-stakes environments every day. Ensuring access to timely, high-quality mental health care isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s essential to supporting the people who care for our communities when they need it most. Through this partnership, our employees will have faster access to personalized, evidence-based mental health care, with options that meet individuals where they are and adapt as their needs change. This is an important investment in the well-being of our people and the families who support them. Our people show up every day with compassion, resilience, and dedication. It’s our responsibility to ensure they have the support they need to keep doing this critical work, for themselves and for the communities they serve.
February is a moment to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth and reflect on the extraordinary impact Black professionals have had within the healthcare field. During last week’s 2026 Patient Flow Management Summit, GMR National VP of Innovative Practices Sabrena Collins spoke on our many services: including the Concierge Model service. Once implemented, our Concierge Model can improve patient throughput, patient satisfaction and service reliability for hospital and health system partners. "Reimagining the discharge process creates a competitive advantage, boosts patient satisfaction and supports financial stability in healthcare," said Collins. “Global Medical Response is helping hospitals across the country transform patient flow by integrating EMS directly into hospital operations. Through our Transport.net platform—the only solution that unifies air and ground medical transport—we give hospitals real‑time visibility, automated workflows, and reliable, on‑time transports that speed discharges, reduce length of stay, and free up critical bed capacity. With innovations like Concierge [Model], CleanCue, and RapidCall, we’re reducing delays, improving throughput, and ensuring patients get to the right level of care faster—often saving lives in the process.” We are proud to lead the nation in digital transformation in EMS.
