This February, in collaboration with our Black@ Employee Resource Group, we continue to acknowledge and reflect on the significance of Black history while embracing and embodying this year’s theme of Black Resistance.
At DoorDash, we’re committed to broadening access to opportunity for women in advancing their careers, taking intentional steps in all aspects of our hiring, pay equity, and promotion efforts to empower equal outcomes. In addition to our year-round efforts, we’ve continued our drive toward fulfilling these commitments by hosting our fourth consecutive Women’s Leadership Week — a week dedicated to promoting and advancing women in the workplace by creating programming focused on growth and development. Check out the recap below.
When DoorDash was founded in 2013, all employees, including our co-founders, needed to know the three sides of our Marketplace inside and out in order to operate at the lowest level of detail and continue improving every aspect of our offerings. Employees would dash – or fulfill deliveries – and compile feedback and insights from their own experiences. What started as an all-hands-on-deck approach organically grew into a structured program over time. By 2015, we formalized this feedback model into WeDash.
As part of our efforts to create a workplace that engages people of all backgrounds while fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion, our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play a vital role in building and driving the culture that our people experience. Because of their significance in shaping what life at DoorDash is like, we are proud to announce that leadership positions across our eight official ERGs — Women, Pride, Parents, AAPI (Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander), Black, Unidos, Indigenous, and Veterans — will now receive compensation for their time and invaluable contributions.
During Women’s History Month and throughout the year, we celebrate women’s history and the contributions they’ve made while looking forward, optimistically. We know that driving for a more equitable world is an ongoing effort, and we're working toward that by broadening access to opportunity, highlighting women-owned businesses on our platform and providing a spotlight on women who are leaders in their communities. It’s critically important when developing a diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy to be clear about your purpose and priorities, including who your DEI team is serving. Without definition, it’s easy to co-opt DEI as a way to maintain the status quo, help the majority feel at ease, and justify actions and behavior or lack thereof. Learn how we define and discuss diversity, equity, and inclusion at DoorDash, and how we're creating an atmosphere where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
