Big news for the Merrimack Valley! Lawrence Public Schools, NRT Bus, Beacon Mobility, and our partners cut the ribbon on 35 brand-new electric school buses—a major step toward cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable community transportation. This milestone was made possible through strong public-private partnerships with the EPA, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, MassDEP, Zenobē, National Grid, Liberty Utilities, and others. Together, we’ve: ✅ Deployed 25 electric school buses and 10 minibuses into daily operations ✅ Built a charging hub in Methuen to power the fleet ✅ Reduced carbon emissions by an estimated 1.35 million pounds annually—the equivalent of taking 136 cars off the road every year 💬 As Superintendent Ralph Carrero said: “To give students a comfortable, quieter daily bus ride while benefitting public health, the environment, and Lawrence taxpayers is a big win for our entire community.” This project showcases the power of partnership to drive innovation that improves student health, reduces costs, and protects our environment for generations to come.
