AltaGas is committed to building long-term, mutually beneficial working relationships with Indigenous Peoples and hiring locally first to qualified First Nations and area residents. In fact, the Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal, working in partnership with our local Indigenous communities and Coast Mountain College, created an Operator Training Program to provide First Nations and community members with Gas Processing Operations and safety training. Delivered in our host communities, this program gives students foundational knowledge, builds essential skills, and uses on-site exposure to natural gas plant operations to prepare graduates for rewarding, long-term careers at the RIPET facility and in the community they call home. Yesterday, our students applied their problem solving/ technical skills and creativity to present solutions to a challenge that AltaGas Ltd. had given them on Friday. We were blown away by their innovative ideas!
