      Entretien

I applied through StackOverflow, and the hiring process went from May 2017 - June 2017. The first round was a 9-hour technical screening. Judging by the other interview reviews for this company, this was the same problem other candidates had. The requirements of the solution are stated very clearly in the problem statement. The solution shouldn't take more than 30 lines of code, and you shouldn't need to write conditions upon conditions for every corner case. You should test every corner case, yes, but a passing solution should handle them elegantly. The second and third rounds were Skype interviews with screensharing. You are permitted to use a text editor but not a compiler or debugger. I cannot share any details about the nature of the interview itself, but it seems like it uses the same problems as what other people have reported. You should be comfortable with writing a function that is mathematically rigorous, efficient, and elegant. Be prepared to "prove" that your program does what you want it to do. Treat the interview like a CS exam and take your time with finding the perfect solution! I was rejected after the third interview. HR told me that they could not disclose why my submission did not satisfy their expectations, but I was able to e-mail the interviewer and receive an explanation for one of the shortcomings of my solution. I understand that think-cell has high standards for code quality, but it would help to be more forgiving and less opaque with reviewing candidates' submissions.

Dear Candidate, thank you for taking the time to write this review. We always appreciate feedback that helps us improve applicants’ experiences with our recruitment process. Since we are working on expanding our team, we aim for our programming test to offer a reliable reflection on a candidate's abilities and programming style, while remaining a real-life challenge. There is a good chance that your solution was correct, too, but simply did not meet all of the criteria as stated in the task description. We thank you for your interest in our company and sincerely hope that you will consider applying again later on in your career. In the meantime, we wish you all the best for your professional path.

After spending hours to do a test - they reject the application without even bothering providing feedback (and that despite the fact the test was well done and passing all the tests) - that is not a professional behavior and lacks respect for the time people invest in the process.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you found the process frustrating, especially considering the time and effort you invested. We understand how important it is for candidates to feel that their work is acknowledged and respected. We understand that not receiving detailed feedback can create the impression that your effort was not fully recognized. However, providing specific feedback on the assessment would compromise the integrity of our evaluation process and our ability to apply it consistently to all candidates. We appreciate your understanding in this regard. Best regards, People Team

First it was a coffee chat and then a 10h technical assesment, without any feedback for their side. It was frustrating because after investing a lot of time, they don't even tell you nothing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the process felt frustrating. We aim to create a recruitment experience that is both fair and respectful of candidates’ time. Our technical test is designed to assess problem-solving skills in a realistic way and help us identify the strong technical abilities required to maintain the high standards of think-cell’s products. The platform allows up to 10 hours to complete the task to give candidates flexibility, for example to take breaks if needed. In practice, many candidates complete and submit their solutions within around 2–4 hours. Regarding feedback, we also understand that not receiving detailed comments on a submission can feel disappointing. Unfortunately, providing specific feedback on the assessment would compromise the integrity of our evaluation process and our ability to continue using this test consistently with all candidates. We appreciate your understanding on this matter. Best regards, People Team

It took me 7 hours to complete. The ui hanged at some point and I had to restart. Otherwise it was a fun experience. I could related to comments that the process is lengthy. It is. But so is the job itself, you have sit at your desk and solve real problems.
