The hiring process was incredibly long and, at times, quite excruciating.
From the moment I got approached by the Department Manager until I got officially hired at The LEGO Group it took one entire year. The issue being that I requested to work fully remotely, and the leadership is not very flexible about it.
Even after stepping back on my needs and settling on one location (Billund), the process dragged on infinitely with no definite timeline provided for when I could expect to start.
There were moments when I was on the verge of giving up and looking for opportunities elsewhere; I was keeping my schedule open in anticipation of starting this new position.
Yet, just as I was about to commit and thought it was over, another hiring meeting would be scheduled, leaving me confused.
When asking specific questions about the hiring timeline, I received only vague or incorrect responses.
I genuinely wish the Recruiters and Managers had leveraged my expectations more effectively by clarifying that it would take a year from their initial approach to my official start date.
Had I known, I would have considered taking on other roles in the meantime.
