My first interview was with a technical manager. It was not technical, we mainly discussed my past experience and the role’s requirements. The second was a 1.5-hour live coding session to build a complete backend service with database connections and a web server etc. In the last 15 minutes, I was allowed to use AI, and I wish the interviewer had informed me earlier. The interviewer acknowledged the time challenge and asked me to finish the service in a couple of hours and send it back. They promised detailed feedback if they did not move forward. It has been 3–4 weeks with no response, which feels like a waste of time.
