      Entretien

I am going to use this space to paste an email I wanted to share with the CEO because I never got a reply on the interview I had with them. I have eliminated names for privacy. Having decided with my wife that is was time to head to the states and leave Argentina as It is no longer the environment we want our kids to grow. Almost 1 month ago, I applied for an IT Manager position in the Jacksonville office. I saw the listing on LinkedIn and believed I was a great match. I had an initial talk with HR over the phone and we concluded to have a second video call with the Service Support Manager and another Technical Manager. We had the video call the next day I spoke with HR. When we finished this video call, I was told by the two technical managers that next day HR would call me to arrange details to meet in person and that they were looking forward to meeting me. HR was under the impression I was already living in Miami, and the technical managers explained to him I was in Argentina. He then told me that even though they were very interested in me, that they could not afford a plane ticket from Argentina, to please let him know when was I going to be back in Miami so to set up logistic. He was kind in telling me that they could afford paying for my rental car to Jacksonville and 1-night hotel. I told HR, that it was fine, that I could pay for the plane ticket from Argentina (9 hours flight and almost USD1000) So I asked them what the new interview was about, if there was going to be many candidates, etc As I didn't want to either waste their time and money or mine. HR then told me that it was only to be me. Sounded fair and decided to take the risk and purchase a ticket and rented a car. Next week from this call I was in Jacksonville after flying 9 hours and driving 5 hours from Miami. It was a long trip but I was sure it was worth it. On Wednesday, before the interview, HR was kind enough to show me the office and meet the people there. I had my interview with the two technical managers and a third senior level Manager. I believed it went well, but could notice some doubts on the senior manager. So far, fine. I left the building escorted by one of the technical managers who told me HR would probably be calling me tomorrow. Decided to rent one more night hotel just in case. Next day I received no call and in the afternoon I headed back to Miami. I was leaving back to Argentina on Saturday. Ever since the interview, I had no news from this company until August 23 when after some emails from me HR finally replied that, and I quote, "I wanted to keep you in the loop regarding the IT Manager position. Everyone really liked you, but the senior manager does want to interview a couple other candidates before making a final decision. I will keep you up to date moving forward.” I asked if he had some ETA and he replied that he believed early next week and that he was to call me or email me on Monday. Ever since that email, I have never received any more communication from this company. and I had written several emails (with reading requests) requesting feedback and even left some voicemail to HR. Let me be clear, I am fine with an answer saying, you did not get the job, we decided to go with someone else. That is part of the game and we are all grown-ups. I can deal with that. What I can't believe or understand, is the lack of empathy, professionalism and education showed during this hiring process finale. When you know you interviewed a person who went on an beyond to attend that interview, what it meant for him; the least it could have been done, is keep an open communication channel to have me on the loop, either for a yes, a no, or a " we are still making our decision" Please don't take this as a rant on my behalf, but as a courtesy of something to definitely improve on the hiring process, because it does speak very poorly of this company and hope it helps improve on this area. I feel like a dodge a bullet with this one.
