Rather than a panel interview, I had four half-hour interviews with:
1. Histotechnologist and Histology Associate
2. Lab Director and VP of Laboratory Operations
3. Medical Director
4. Human Resources
During this 2 hour interview, I was informed point blank that:
1. the work is boring
2. there is no room for growth
3. the benefits are less robust than what I currently enjoy
4. there is no reimbursement nor even encouragement of professional enrichment such as attending industry conferences (NSH/CSH)
5. there was heavy emphasis on how there is NO DRAMA in the workplace
6. Laboratory management is “top heavy” (their words)
7. HR asked me directly when I graduated high school under the guise of friendly friendly banter even though I have a 4 year science degree.
In short, they did a poor job of selling me on why I’d want to work there. Thank goodness that I love my current job and was only exploring options of furthering my skill set and income.
On the plus side they claim to be on the cusp of experiencing exceptional growth. I felt that we were not a good fit and did not follow up after the interview.
