      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Yardly (Edmonton, AB) en juin 2017

      Entretien

A friend told me about the position, I applied, and was offered an interview promptly (June 19). The interview went well, and I was told when they were done interviewing in another couple of weeks (July 7th), they would let me know the results. Sometime between July 7th and July 13th (can't remember exact date), I was offered the position via phone, with a start date within the next week or two, waiting for New Graduate funding to come through. I began excitedly thinking about my new job. This is where things went awry. They were relying on funding from a government grant to hire me, which I guess they expected to receive in July. Come mid July, they find out that the grant is delayed, unbeknownst to me. I wait a few weeks, then email the person I was in contact with, the co-founder. He lets me know the situation now (July 14), and tells me that he will hopefully have news within the next few weeks. It is now August 7th and I have been waiting for about a month and a half between first interview and this news. I email the Co-Founder who then a few days later emails me back and calls me. He tells me that they will probably get a firm answer from their contact in September and offers condolences as well as assures me they are still interested in hiring me come September when they get the funding. Finally, September rolls around, and, after not hearing from them, I email on the 3rd of September. I receive a reply on September 5th stating the following: "Thanks for your patience and sorry for dragging this for so long. We recently confirmed that all the funds we were in contact with are either cancelled or paused due to the governments new policy. Therefore, we are going to cancel this position for now. We might need to re-start the hiring process in the future without the funding. However, we might be looking for different skills sets since the range for candidates is wider without the funding's restrictions. Thanks again for you interests in Yardly. Best luck in looking for new opportunities." It had been roughly 2.5 months since the interview. Of those 2.5 months, I was supposedly hired and waiting for a start date for more than half of them. While the Co-Founder was very friendly throughout, I can't believe the amount of time wasted and the lackadaisical manner with which I was vetted out any information.
