The first stage is phone screening by the hiring manager. Yes, before that you need to hand in a long questionnaire. Second is making a Skype interview with 20 min technical presentation. Topic is on your choice (I am new grad so mainly about the school works) and guidelines for the preparation is provided. The most special requirement is they actually ask you to go deep into the work you are going to present, not just an introductory level presentation. The last stage is the onsite interview and they asked me to do the presentation again at the beginning to all interviewers. After the presentation, they talked with my one by one. I had it all day (from 9 am to 4 pm including lunch with them). It was really exhausted. People I met there were really nice. Questions were mostly about the presentation and the past school works experience, with one or two classical behavior questions. I was also asked for totally three brain-teasing questions, mainly testing your estimation skills and how you make a plan. I got an offer from another company right after the interview with Cree, and I told them to withdraw me from the consideration a few days after. Anyway, the interview experience was good and positive.

Long but fair. Started with an HR interview where I was asked standard questions as well as a time where I had to solve a technical problem and the steps I took to do so, then a 2nd phone interview with a manager who was friendly and polite. I was asked a combination of questions from what I am looking for in a job culturally,, behavioral questions, and some very straightforward technical questions pertaining to LEDs and semiconductors. I am preparing for my 3rd interview now and was told to expect 4 total before an offer. All the interviews are still over the phone, none in person. For the 3rd interview I have been asked to prepare a 30 minute presentation on research or a project I have completed and to expect 30 minutes of follow up questions from 3-4 R&D managers.
