J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Wolff Financial Group (Manchester, CT) en juill. 2021

      Entretien

Even though the resume and work history are all you should need to know about one's background, I was directly asked where I was from because they detected an... accent (??). He even preceded with "I know I shouldn't ask but.." then DON'T. Upon my giving a truthful answer (and thus revealing that I am biracial and not from a privileged background, but American nonetheless) the younger interviewer signaled her obvious disapproval and I knew it was over.. and the way the younger interviewer ended things was pretty dismissive...not even a polite parting/farewell. By the way,, I have a Masters degree so.. I think I'm more than capable of reading a business card.. I guess this all wouldn't normally have bothered me much except: a. My "background" was ultimately the reason actually given for not being chosen (I was informed it was a factor.) and b. combined with this company being so blatantly homogenous. C. She wasn't very professional and was wearing something I would wear to do yard work. If you're going to judge by covers... then yours should be better.. There wasn't a single person of color on their staff.. Their one hint at diversity was a single token STOCK PHOTO on their website depicting two persons of color (who obviously don't work there) with very ethnic hairstyles. It was extremely out of place with everything else on this website and the intent was obvious. Employee-wise? Zero diversity. There was not a single person of color employed there. It's 2021- not 1950's Connecticut. This CANNOT cut it anymore. Please revisit your concept of "integrity."
