      Entretien pour Brand Storyteller

      Expérience neutre

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Woden (New York, NY)

      Entretien

The process in whole took almost 3 months. After applying, I was requested to write a blog post sample. No guidelines provided outside of trying to capture the company’s voice. Providing a researched 1k+ word blog post as a writing example was time consuming and uncompensated. My sample and resume seemed adequate enough to go through 2 rounds of interviews, however they passed on me for the position because they were concerned about my experience level. From what I saw of their new staff, our experience/educational backgrounds are similar. My experience was evident from my resume, so if that was an issue, I should have been turned down sooner rather than of months later.

Analysis and then interview, it felt like a large amount of work but was helpful overall. The staff were pleasant and welcoming and the instructions were clear. I enjoyed the overall process.

I applied online and heard back from Woden in a few days. They asked me to write a blog post and edit a storykernel. The guidelines were loose and they indicated they wanted someone to wow them and think outside the box. I found the edited portion particularly difficult because even after studying their website and examples it was anyone’s guess what they were looking for. The whole process took hours and I didn’t receive an invitation to interview in person. It could be worth it for someone that’s a good fit but expect to put in a decent amount of work ahead of time. I understand wanting to be wowed, but a little more guidance could help potential hires. Especially candidates you respond to who come from outside a marketing/branding background.

Thank you for the feedback about providing additional guidance. Our objective with the writing sample and editing sample is to ensure that anyone we were to bring in for an interview writes in a way that we feel would be additive to the team, We could provide more detailed instructions without affecting what we're looking to get out of the exercise, and if it would be less stressful to a candidate, we're happy to do so. We know we ask people for an investment of time if/before we sit for a formal interview, and it's reasonable we do more to help there. Thank you for the feedback.
