Sent my application online as I've been doing for years and 2 days later for the first time was called in for an interview by the Volunteer Manager. Turns out they needed 10 new volunteers asap and would be holding an orientation in 2 weeks.
Arriving to the interview there was another girl waiting because surprise surprise, it was a group interview only thankfully it was just the 2 of us with just the Manager interviewing us. From there we were taken to the 3rd floor where the interview took place.
As there aren't exactly any "tips" when it comes to museum interviews I had no idea what to expect so I was fairly surprised when most of it ended up being generic customer service questions you would expect from a retail store interview. While i'll admit I wasn't exactly prepared I answered each question as confident as i could without any hesitation,
After the interview we were told we would hear back from her by Friday or Monday with the orientation set for Wednesday otherwise we would get a rejection email which I though was a nice gesture considering as anyone in this industry knows you'll NEVER get a rejection letter from anywhere.
Well lo and behold Friday and Monday came and I'm certainly happy I didn't request off work since not only was I not invited to the orientation but unlike she originally had promised she never bothered emailing me back at all as well!!
