The interview was not particularly long. I had called in on my local Wendy's hiring open door to schedule an interview. Upon walking in they told me that working at their store would require me to shave my beard. They offered no alternative such as a beard net or similar precaution. I understand a desire to promote a clean workspace but, and this may seem petty on my part, my beard is very important to my self-esteem and my identity. I would have gladly worn a beard net or even kept it very short if need be. They said the beard would have to go so I politely thanked them for their time and left.
