The application and interview process was overly complicated and drawn out. It consisted of a lengthy application, a long written interview, psychometric tests, practical assessments (two blogs), and two video interviews. However, although it was very labour-intensive, the hiring process was explained well, and the hiring staff were polite and professional.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

They asked many questions geared toward assessing how well you deal with heavy workloads - time management, stress management, task prioritisation, preferred working hours and conditions, etc.

Multi-step and very thorough. You had to answer a very very detailed questionnaire about your experience and workplace preferences. It involved a writing test where you had to time yourself. I liked that they were direct and comprehensive in their communication.

Horrible waste of time from start to finish, I cannot recommend avoiding this company like the plague. The role I was being considered for was a full-time CONTRACT role with no benefits, mind you, and it pays max $21 an hour. I am now realizing this 4-step hiring process was probably used to get free work out of candidates with experience. I initially applied in November 2025. I was first contacted to begin the interview process in February 2026. The first "interview" consisted of two parts: a Google form that took well over 30 minutes to fill out, with extremely odd questions like "Imagine you started at WebFX and left 6 months later. What would be the reason you left?". There were two ridiculous questions that weren't marked as required so I chose to leave them blank... someone contacted me a day or two later via email and asked me to answer them in a reply email. The second part of step one in the hiring process was a TestGorilla assessment that literally had nothing to do with the job's function itself. It was actually very difficult, and it had FOUR parts. You had to do them all in one sitting. Step two (out of four) in the hiring process was a video interview. When they sent me the link to schedule a time, the earliest interview date they had available was over 2 weeks later, which I found frustrating after having to spend so much time on the first step. The video interview was fine, the person was really kind and made it comfortable, but the questions they were required to ask were actually so awful and made me feel like WebFX would be a nightmare of a workplace, especially for contract employees. One question asked was, "When you get stressed, how would you rate your highest possible level of stress on a scale of 1 to 10?". I didn't want to answer that, but apparently it was required to pick a number so I said "6" and the person then had to ask "How many times in the past year have you been stressed at a 6?" which is just an insane question to ask for a remote writing role with no benefits at $21 an hour. There was also, "When you're stressed at a 6, do you think other people can tell?" Ridiculous. I could tell even the person interviewing me felt bad they had to ask some of those questions. I was moved forward to the fourth step in the hiring process, which was a two-part, 4.5 hour long writing assessment. Unpaid, of course. The email said it shouldn't take more than 1.5 hours but that TestGorilla allows you up to 4.5 hours on the timer. For reference, I have 7 years of professional writing and editing experience at major news outlets, and the test took ME over 3 hours. It was four parts, and the final part involved editing and adding more content to an "example" of an article that would be found on WebFX's own website for their clients to read. I took my time, did heavy edits, followed all instructions, and added valuable information to the article because I have some expertise in that specific topic area (web design). Today, I just received an email that they are not moving me forward to the final step in the hiring process. It was a generic form rejection, with zero personalized feedback or reasons why they aren't continuing with my candidacy. I am fully convinced that they are using those unpaid editing tests to get free work out of qualified candidates so they can update and optimize the content on their website without hiring anyone new. I wouldn't wish this interview process on my worst enemy, and I am livid that so much of my time was just wasted.

The hiring process is very well organized and extremely competitive, but there's substantial time commitment involved. My process included a long application form with a video, two assessments, and an unpaid writing trial that took around four hours to complete. Communication was clear and professional throughout, but the process is highly demanding overall and may require a significant investment of time before reaching later stages.
