Recruiter reached out and had an initial call, discussed salary and was sent the staff role. It later became a senior role. Which HR would make this mistake? Had first two rounds, then the behavioural interviewer told me it's his first interview. I was surprised and said I would have expected he'd already done many interviews given that the role opened like a few weeks ago and i saw some thousand applications (not to mention those not applied but were reached out). All my interviews are online and 5 are interviewing with American team even though it's UK role. I even asked one of the interviewers, i believe he also wasn't aware. My technical leadership interview was cancelled 15 mins before the interview, this was scheduled 2 weeks ago. I was told there was a conflict (last minute) and it will be re-scheduled. But then i was told it was a mistake, it should never have been scheduled. I did next few rounds. Afterwards I was asked to do another behavioural. I replied to say i've done one but still gave my availabilities, I even offered to use my annual leave to accommodate them. The additional behavioural was cancelled. The week after that the recruiter set up a call with me, I raised the question regarding the role seniority. He told me the feedback was strong and positive. He told me the mixed up of senior and staff was a mistake. Although it didn't explain why there was a technical leadership set up in the first place. I was ok with senior role, he said he can try to get me more signing bonus and equity. A few days later I received a rejection email. Recruiter set up another meeting with me. I asked what happened, he said there're negative feedbacks. (he also said he read the feedbacks in the last meeting before he told me it was strong and positive). I was told in the third last interview i was deemed not a fit (yes this slipped from his mouth). I didn't ask why he'd try to set up another duplicated behavioural for me, I didn't ask why he'd set up the last meeting just to lie to me if it is as he said that I was deemed not a fit even before i finished the last rounds. The recruiter told me there're more headcount on the way and next time i could skip the technical rounds (an obvious lie). I believe he meant he wants to use me to fill his KPI again. I spent weeks to prepare, a lot of efforts. Maybe I wasn't good enough. I believe the interviewers were not involved in this. But if their recruiter isn't just messing with me, none of what happened would make sense. I was really speechless. Treating me as a fool for once is enough, but trying to do this again? what is wrong with waymo and their HR? I hope others don't get their time wasted after reading this.
