Started with a screening call that turned into an actual interview, then asked to put together a report and complete an assignment. I did not make it to the final round but was told it would be in person

Question 1
What is a movie you watched recently that you enjoyed
Initial telephone interview, did not last very long around 15 minutes. This involved just talking through your cv/why you applied to the position.
Then came a task, which was ridiculous. The task took at least 3 full days to work on, it used WaveMetrix own research platform which was very clunky to use. The task didn't come with any real instructions on how to use the platform and much of the data wasn't labelled leaving you to guess what the data was.
The research then had to be put into a powerpoint with very strict formatting instructions, it didn't feel like this was necessary for the level of the role and took up unnecessary time and was not reflective of any other task i've ever done for similar roles.
The company seemed like it worked with some interesting clients, but the recruitment process is very labour intensive.
After working for three days on this, all I received was a note that they were not taking my application any further a complete waste of three days work with no feedback.

Phone interview, face to face, then a task. Task involved analysing some data from varous movies and collating them into a short presentation - it's a good task to get an idea of your suitability for the job - questions at interview were fairly generic - nothing too awful or difficult
