      Entretien

I wanted to start this review by stating that I have been a Wag! Walker for almost two years and that’s what led me to applying to a position at the core office in SF. I noticed that one of the partnership managers posted on LinkedIn that Wag was hiring for a Business Development Representative and they stated that anyone could Inmail them and express interest. I sent an Inmail, stated my experience with wag as a walker and skills that would be transferable from previous positions and requested to have a call. My email to the manager was first ignored, then I sent another email to express my interest (again) with a company whose customers I care for so much. Finally a call was scheduled, the manager was a bit closed off at first because my background wasn’t tech or finance (but the job post said, new grads welcome!!) but I gave a few ideas of how I could make the wag platform better for both walkers and owners and how to find the right partnerships based on the customer feedback received. The manager ended the call with saying that my professional background wasn’t “business” like other candidates but they wouldn’t hold it against me and they’d discuss it with their team. The next day the manager requests another call but to discuss a different position as an Account Manager that would come up with ideas, events, etc in order for tenants in luxury apartments to download and activate the Wag! app. The manager said they didn’t have the budget for the role to be for a year but I could work with the company for six months and then based on my performance, it could lead to a full time position. Alright, so based off this call.. I get an interview that is scheduled to be at the Mountain View office, great! The day before my interview, I’m asked to come to the SF office instead, no biggie! I arrive at the office and the interview begins, I’m asked a lot of questions about my experiences with wag owners and customers, what ideas I had for activations and events. I’m then asked basic management questions and that one portion is done with one of the partnership managers. Next up, another partnership manager comes in and starts asking me about my experience as a wag walker and asks for different ideas on how to activate the app and even had questions about how the app works.. both managers had been at the company for less than two months. The interview is over and something just didn’t feel right, I felt naive and felt like I just left a survey session for walkers and not an interview. I followed up with a thank you email to both managers and over the next few weeks, kept sending ideas and proposals based off of our conversation and feedback from wag customers. Two weeks go by and there is no response on the position so I reach out again and I’m told there has been a hiring freeze for Business Development and there will be restructuring going on in the company based on recent events and that wag needed to reassess it’s values as a company. I was definitely upset but thinking back to the interview, I wondered if the team already knew about it. I love wag’s customers and will always want what’s best for them but I was very disappointed in this experience.
