This is an entry level position targeted at college seniors. I applied to the job in early October online, with a standard application. The same day I took an online assessment that was about an hour long, standard math and reading type questions. Approximately two months later in early December I received a Hirevue interview request, I completed that the same day I received the invitation . At the end of the "interview" I was told that it would be 4-5 weeks before I heard back. Two months after that interview (this week, in early Feb) I received an invitation to come in for what I am assuming is a superday. In that timeframe I applied to a position at a different firm, had multiple phone interviews, scheduled and attended an in-person interview (which included a 3 week gap waiting for my winter break to start), and had a follow up interview. All before receiving and accepting a job offer. That entire process was 2 months long. This process is at bare minimum 5 months, if not 6/7 depending on how long it would have taken me to hear back. I declined the interview. I'm not a fan of Hirevue or online assessments, but I can understand why larger firms would choose to use them in their recruiting process. However, having both with a lead time of 8 weeks is ridiculous. I'm not saying that I am the most qualified candidate, but if you have the forethought to apply for jobs in October, you are probably competitive enough to find something by February. The insurance industry is already under the radar of most college students, and dragging these things out definitely doesn't help anyone. I probably would have loved to work at Willis, and would have at least appreciated the opportunity to get to know them better.
