Waste of time. The VP rejected me right away at the end of the phone call. Why would he even want to talk if he knew I didn’t have the “right experience”? Just a total waste of mine (and his) time. Of all people, the VP should know that product managers are a “jack of all trades” and come from a unique background. There is no degree in ‘product management.’ How else am I supposed to get the experience if no one takes a gamble on me at some point? Astonishing lack of knowledge and respect by an executive.

I was contacted for a phone screen by a recruiter first. She was very responsive and I was able to find a time to connect with her quickly. She asked me the basic product manager phone screen questions. I was then connected to a hiring manager for my second round. Although I was asked to come in for a final round, I ultimately decided that it wasn't the right time to make a move yet after I got some personal news.

It was smooth and seamless from start to finish, phone screen to 4-hr onsite. I was awaiting the final decision (they basically told me I had an offer at the onsite) before, all of a sudden, they requested a weird surprise interview with one of the co-founders. We hopped on a call and you could tell he basically could care less about the interview - seemed distracted by a number of things and kept cutting me off.
