I truly felt as though I was interviewing to become a member of the Secret Service at the end of this exhausting process. This job is primarily sales with a high quota, and the pay is certainly not worth the intense interview process, scrutiny, and lack of follow-up!
I went through two lengthy and very involved phone interviews with HR Recruiters (primarily the questions were in STAR format), a face-to-face interview with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, and finally a face-to-face interview with the District Manager and Store Manager again. During the first interview at the store level, sales demonstrations were required. Over a week after the first personal interview, I finally received a text message offering the interview with the District Manager. Following the interview with the DM, the Store Manager told me I did very well and to keep my phone near me, because offers would be extended in the next couple of days.
Two weeks later, I haven't received a phone call explaining the decision from anyone, and my emails to the HR representative remain unanswered, even today.
To put a potential employee through four difficult interviews, making him/her believe that an offer will be extended, and not have the decency or courtesy to notify him/her of the decision shows a severe lack of professionalism, in my opinion, and is indicative of what working for the company would probably be like. Also, the HR representatives in the location of my application are not friendly, have rude comebacks for honest answers to questions, and are poor at following up with candidates. I have since permanently marked Verizon Wireless off of my potential employers list, and will utilize my time and talents for other organizations in the area.
