      Entretien

The hiring process takes about a month. I submitted my application online on Oct 26. I received an email from HR on Oct 28th telling me that I was picked for the 1st step towards hiring; a phone screening. There was a link included in the email which sent you to a page to set up a date and time for the screening. The email also included a few documents. LOOK THESE OVER. I was was asked basic questions about these documents (job description understanding). I scheduled my screening for Nov 1. This screening basically went over the things you already covered on your resume and application. The HR person also went over the job description, salary, benefits, and schedule examples and availability. I was called the following week by the district manager to set up an immediate face to face interview. I set the for Tues, Nov 12th.This interview felt similar to the first except I was given a series of scenarios and asked how I would handle the situation and why. Be sure to bring your resume (I brought three and good thing because I was interviewed simultaneously by the DM and SM). I was also asked to go through my resume without reading it word for word. I was contacted later that via email day by another HR rep to set up a third phone interview. I set it for that Sat (my only day off work at the time), Nov 16th. Somehow we missed one another and had to reschedule for the following Tues, Nov 19th. This was a combination between the first two interviews. The questions were a little more detail and took a little more explaining. I was contacted via cell, the next day (Nov 20th) by the first HR rep I spoke with. She again went over key parts of my resume and asked my to clarify my availability. She then gave me a VERBAL employment offer. She sent me various emails from the company including forms to set up my drug screening test and an agreement confirming that the company could conduct a THOROUGH background check. The drug screen had to be done within 48 hours of the verbal offer. I scheduled this for Friday, Nov 22. I was contacted Thursday by the people conducting the background check to verify some info and send over a pay stub. I was then contacted the following Tues, Nov 26th, from a diff lady saying that everything cleared and I was to report to orientation Mon, Dec 2nd from 8am-5pm. The company paid for a hotel stay the previous night since I was 2.5 hours away from the facility. Just a few words of advise. Once you get the verbal offer, SET MONEY ASIDE. You are required to fund your trip to orientation and back. Following that you may be in your store or business location and then you are required to attend a 5 day training class at a nearby facility. You are also asked to fund this trip yourself (gas, meals, etc.). The company pays your hotel stay and also reimburse you (by mileage) but I wasn't expecting these expenses and had to scramble money last minute. Also if you are currently employed and searching for employment through Verizon, give your job a heads up. Unfortunately I was notified 5 days prior to having to drive to orientation and suffered loss of my accrued vacation time at my previous job due to lack-of-proper notice. This SUCKED. But I am extremely excited to be a part of Verizon and looking forward to what the company has to offer. It seems very promising! Good Luck =)

The interview process were fine. At times I find it heart wrenching because I find myself starting all over again. After the interview process, they sent me an email and stated that they have selected another candidate. I was disappointed because the job description they have listed met all my all the requirements that were on the resume.

So far it's been very simple. I got contacted by a recruiter after applying online, was asked a myriad of questions via e-mail, and then we set up a phone interview. I was swapped between three different recruiters in that time, so it was a bit confusing. Phone interview was fine (basic STAR questions and resume checks), and I was told I'd hear back in a week.

Interview questions were very simple and straight forward. My interview started off with me describing my experiences and duties with previous employers. Then on to questions in regards to customer service skills and achievements. Please give and example of a time you went above and beyond for a customer? Are you comfortable working in an environment with sales quotas? How have you dealt with sales quotas in the past? Give an example of a difficult customer service situation and how you handled it?
