Interview Experience – Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition
I appeared for an interview with Veranda Solutions Private Limited for the role of Senior Manager – Talent Acquisition. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing due to the unprofessional conduct of the HR Head, who conducted the interview.
During the discussion, she repeatedly questioned the five-month gap in my employment. When I explained that I currently have an offer in hand but have not accepted it yet due to personal comfort and fit, her tone became rude and judgmental. She went on to question my intent as a candidate, making remarks that were inappropriate and uncalled for. As a professional from the HR background myself, I believe candidates have the right to evaluate and choose the best opportunity for themselves, and such decisions should be respected.
The conversation further deteriorated when she raised concerns about my salary expectations, despite the fact that I had clearly communicated beforehand to the recruiter who scheduled the interview that my compensation was non-negotiable. Instead of maintaining a professional dialogue, she attempted to lecture me on “market standards,” which felt dismissive and unnecessary.
Overall, the interview lacked empathy, professionalism, and mutual respect. If this is the approach taken by the HR leadership, it raises concerns about the internal culture and employee experience within the organization. Given this interaction, I can understand the negative feedback by employees reflected in the company’s Glassdoor rating.
