J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Vatic Labs (New York, NY) en nov. 2017
Entretien
Their recruiter reached out to me through Linkedin a while ago. When it is time for full-time job seeking, I contacted him and got reply the same day. The recruiter is the most professional recruiter I've ever met, in an efficient and accommodating manner.
Two phone interviews with quant researchers. All top-tier quantitative Ph.D.'s. I can obviously tell they are super smart and have really strong math and CS background. You should expect tech questions that start from a simple topic while can go really deep and interesting.
The onsite interview lasts for several 1 on 1 rounds, with their quant team members. Each round focused on one aspect of your skillset, including math, ML, CS, etc. The team members are just friendly while the questions was still intuitive and challenging. In the end, I got to talk to their CEO, who's young and bright. That conversation turned out to be the most educational one throughout my interview process.
I like their team value which was collaborative and adaptive. As a startup there are a lot I can do. So I accepted the offer.
HR call, involving experience, please refrain from using Chatgpt to ask and evaluate answers, it seems pretty standard for candidates and such a waste of time, disrespectful, then standard interviews, the company is not doing well, they don't have alpha, they say they use LLMs to trade although they have no experienced people in LLMs, most talented people left
The interview process was generally pretty standard amongst various hedge funds. Asked about various probability and stats questions over the phone. Took a little bit to get an interview scheduled though as a heads up
Online code test followed by phone screen. The code test was easy (didn't take the 4 hours allotted), the phone screen questions were brainteaser-style. I had a bad experience and felt like the interviewer was very disengaged and looking for a specific solution (I arrived at a different solution which I later checked to be correct, but he was not happy with it).
