I was highly impressed with Untapped's (known as Canvas, at the time of interview) process up until the very end.
I was contacted almost immediately by a recruiter and was able to schedule a first screen within 48 hours. Everything after that was well taken care of and organized by the team. Each step of the process was communicated proactively, and there were no major hiccups as I went through each phase.
The next round consisted of four separate interviews with different cross-functional members which would be collaborating with this role. There were a couple of schedule conflicts that eventually caused certain interviews to be shuffled around, but this was completely understandable, and this didn't bother me.
The day after my last interview, I received a message from the initial recruiter saying that everyone I spoke to had positive remarks about me, and a decision would be coming shortly.
That's where the communication ended. A couple of days went. Then a week went by. Then two. Nothing. I also followed-up a couple of times during this time span to no avail.
After reading about the company's culture and mission, it seemed like I had stumbled upon a dream opportunity. However, the anxiety caused by the recruiting team's silence is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.
I read another individual's review on the interview process and realized that ghosting their candidates might be the company's norm. I consider myself fortunate to have found another person's review, because it gave me the closure I needed when the company refused to say anything.
For a company working within the talent-acquisition space, why does it believe that this is acceptable?
The outreach and interview process was near-perfect. Everything after was horrible.
