I was contacted by United Scrap Metal on Indeed, asking if I’d like to interview with the company for their office coordinator position. I received a call from a recruiter, looking for a position for their St. Louis office. I was told I’d hear back within 24-48 hours with a decision. It’s been over 2 weeks now and I haven’t heard anything. So, that gives me an idea of what kind of ship they run. The position sounded great on paper and during the interview, but their lack of communication is disrespectful. Proceed with caution!

They dragged out the interview process from Nov thru late Jan. I was contacted for a phone interview around thanksgiving, a week later I was invited to do a 2nd interview via Skype, then they ghosted me for 2wks. After the 2nd interview they wanted me to drive from Indy to Cicero to see their main location but couldn’t make any guarantees about the position so I had another Skype interview with the CFO. After that they begged me to come to Cicero so I went on the contingency that they just wanted to meet me in person and that I would leave that meeting/interview (a 4th one at this point) with an offer. During that EYE OPENING interview/tour where everything described to me was not what we had discussed so far. The owners son was also rather condescending during the interview. I was told by the recruiter that I was a shoo-in and the only candidate. After all this I’m told they will email me my offer and I should have it by the end of the day. Then the Next day they tell me I should hear by the end of the week. Then on Friday evening at 830 I get a generic email saying thanks for applying but they’re not interested! They seemed put off when I asked when the job would start, they really looked unhappy when I asked if they match 401k (they don’t). Overall a horrible, awful waste of time experience! They lied during the interview process, about the job duties themselves and were really hung up on ‘extracurricular activities’ like I was applying to college not a job. Had they offered me a position I would have vehemently declined!!
