      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez UbiCare (Boston, MA)

      Entretien

I responded to an online posting and quickly received follow-up. I was interviewed twice within a one week period. The interview questions were super general and the overall tone of the conversation was focused less on my experience and more about specific tasks required by the role. I was eventually offered the position, the salary was agreed to, and the onboarding schedule was set-up. I was planning to work remotely, as the job posting stated, and had agreed to a significant salary hit in order to have this flexibility. When it came time to begin work, I reached out to confirm the schedule just to have it repeatedly pushed out. This was a bit concerning- I understand how busy schedules can become, but it was a red flag that 1) momentary schedule-crunches affected a hiring decision made several months prior, and 2) that the start date was pushed out repeatedly. In addition, I was only notified of these schedule changes when I reached out to follow up. None of this communication was ever proactive on the part of the company. Eventually, six weeks after I was supposed to begin working and several months after the position had been offered to me, the position was rescinded. The reason given was that it was too difficult to accommodate me as a remote staff member, even though working remotely had been a part of the original job posting. They noted that it would be a 'burden' on the company to file the tax paperwork for my employment, without much consideration for the 'burden' I was put under after being led on for several weeks and eventually let go.
