A recruiter reached out to me and we scheduled an initial call. The call went well. She described the different design roles they had available, the teams, and the company culture. From there we honed in on a role which would be a good fir for me and scheduled a chat with the hiring manager. The hiring manager described the role in depth, her expectations, and the goals/challenges for her team. I was asked to come in for an all day onsite which would be a 45 minute group portfolio presentation and several 1:1's. I had to cancel the final interview. This was not a reflection on Uber, which seems like a fantastic company with a stellar design team. I received an offer from a 'dream job' so to speak, before the interview and chose not to waste Uber's time or to take interview time away from a candidate who was a better fit than me.
