I was sent an email from Uber itself that they are looking to hire. Replied to that email with an application for the Operations & Logistics role. In about 2 weeks, I got an email from HR at Uber with a analytics test. This test is actually quite easy if you know your way around excel. You don't really need to know pivot tables but it helps. It was actually a fun test and I finished it in about 1.5 hours.
About 30 minutes after I finished it, I got a call (and this is at 9PM at night) from the HR guy and he said that my results on the test are really good, and looking at the profile, they wanted me to consider the role of a General Manager. They wanted me for a particular city and I was told that it is the fastest growing city for Uber ever, and it would be a great experience. After this he sent me a creative test that I had to do, which was not fun and was quite tedious. It almost looked like they were looking for ideas (and I don't know if coincidence or not, but in the last week, they have launched two of the ideas I mentioned)
I was set up for a call the following week with the general manager of a city. We were from the same grad school so it was more a informal discussion and even he kept pushing me on that particular city.
Following that call, I was put on another interview with a International launcher for them. This call was more of an interview with detailed background questioning and then scenarios about Uber and scenarios on what I would do in a city etc. Again that particular city was pushed.
Following this, there was silence for 10 days or so, and I emailed the HR guy to ask the status.
The next day he called and said everything is looking good and set up another interview for me.
This time it was with the Process head at Uber. Again we ran through my background and different scenarios. More or less the same as the earlier interview.
About one hour after this interview, got a call from HR saying its looking good and they set up another interview for me with the head of the region.
This interview again started off with the basics, and then more of the same questions really.
After this, a couple of days later I got an email from HR saying they have decided to go in another direction. Nothing else!
I replied asking for specific feedback and it has been a week now.. Not really expecting a response.
Overall, quite flummoxed at the whole thing and it all seemed a bit in disarray.
