My interview with the Air Force Recruiter was in June 1977. The job (AFSC) you qualify for depends on one's ASVAB results. These are 4 tests that will rate a persons knowledge and potential skills in 4 areas; General, Mechanical, Electrical, and Administrative. Of course to join the USAF all applicants will get drug tested and receive a medical examination. ASVAB books are available in libraries for self study to improve scores thus enhancing job selection. Mandatory Physical fitness testing is performed annually and consists of a 1/2 mile run, push-ups and sit-ups in 1 minute and a waist measurement.
