I was contacted 2 months after I applied and I was invited to an interview. The first email I received had no date and time and no links to connect to the interview on Teams. The issue was rectified, but this is just because I spotted it before it was too late. I attended the interview, and, out of the blue, the manager came along with another interviewer. Sending out a correct email with the members of the panel would've been much appreciated. I was asked a series of questions about my work experience and the way I approach recruitment solutions and systems. Nothing unusual until this point. Then, the hiring manager asked me how I would prioritise a series of tasks, including Compliance and offer Management. I picked Compliance. Where I come from, a solid recruitment process and harmonisation with managers and departments is the foundation of a healthy recruitment function. The manager let me know that she disagreed with me. To her, offer management was more important. She said that if the candidate is any good, one needs to send the offer right away and deal with compliance later. I stayed in my position as I think that changing my mind during an interview is rather pathetic, so I elaborated my thoughts to the best of my capabilities. The interview ended, and the hiring manager told me that they would let me know the outcome the following day, along with any feedback if unsuccessful. It was a Friday. Obviously, nothing happened. I chased on Monday and all I got was an automated response. Guess what: the hiring manager went on leave for three weeks without letting me know the outcome. So much for Offer management and candidate experience over compliance. If this is the way they handle priorities, I really don't want to know how they take care of the rest. As a recruitment manager, it hurts me deeply to see how the 8th-best university in the world can't even handle something simple as this. Probably I was unsuccessful at this stage, as they claim to have the "offer right away" approach for the right candidates. But a rejection email template would have been enough for me. Why promise something if you can't or won't deliver it? But all considered maybe this is for the best -Phone Call with the hiring manager -Interview on teams
