It was three weeks after the application before I received a phone call from HR stating that I was shortlisted and they wanted an informal telephone interview. They wanted to do it right then but I wasn't available and asked if I could call back later.
The interview started out nice enough but the interviewer wouldn't let me finish my answers to her questions, she was rude and it felt more like an interrogation than an informal interview. At one point she raised the question of salary, I tried to find out how much they were offering, and she refused to provide an answer stating that it "wasn't their policy" that they didn't want everyone knowing the salary of their other employees and if I didn't provide a salary then I would not proceed in the interview process and that they didn't want to waste anyones time. However, this is disingenuous as by being transparent they could have avoided this. I have attended numerous interviews and this was by far the worst interview experience so far.
I got the impression that this was more about secrecy and their bottom line, than finding the right person. This interview experience seriously made me reconsider working for this organisation organisation at it makes me wonder how they treat their employee once hired. As soon as the interview finished I had second thoughts about accepting an offer and as it has been several weeks I assume that I have not been further shortlisted.
