The interview process at Trader Joe's is unnecessarily lengthy and inefficient, consisting of three separate interviews that can be a burden for both the candidates and the company. After a successful first interview, you might get a call for a second interview with another hiring manager. If that goes well, you may then have an interview with the store manager. However, the outcome largely depends on the first two interviewers and their personal preferences.
My first interview was a positive experience with a professional and relatable interviewer who had worked his way up from crew. We connected on both professional and personal levels, and I got my second interview scheduled within a week. Unfortunately, the second interview was... different. The interviewer seemed unprepared and frustrated, making the experience uncomfortable. She didn't even realize she was supposed to conduct the interview until a supervisor reminded her.
The first interviewer provided a clear understanding of the job and asked engaging questions, while the second interviewer struggled to remember questions from the Trader Joe's script. One particularly bad question (written about all over the internet) was: "What's your favorite product that you buy from us?" This question is problematic because it assumes familiarity with the store's products, which not all candidates may have, as it doesn't effectively gauge a candidate's suitability for the job. Are they hiring based on merit? Or loyalty? Overall, the inconsistent interview experiences, inconsistent company values, and the lengthy process make it a frustrating ordeal.
P.S. Maybe make the hiring staff more diverse as well? Especially for Centreville area.

1 phone call, two in person, never got the job. Short and simple interview, the third one was long but it was just the employee yapping about the job and what they do. Pretty lame considering they already knew they weren’t going to hire me. Said they were gonna call me and never did. Just call and say that you don’t wanna hire me and move on, how hard is that?

Tell me about yourself (classic). Why Trader Joe's, tell me about a time where you provided excellent service, etc pretty basic and easy questions.

Applications in my area are accepted in-person and online. I'd applied online.
There were two interviews: one with two mates (supervisors) and one with the captain (store manager).
Communication was excellent; I was not left waiting long, though I do not recall exact timeframes.
I am not sure how to speak to interview difficulty. Compared to what? Two interviews is 'easy' compared to other processes I have gone through. The care going into the decision was just as careful though, it seems to me. So, 'difficult'. Questions were largely in the behavioral category, and it helped to have a few examples in mind. So, 'average'.

Question 1
Of course, they wanted to see how I'd handled various challenges in the past. While both interviews wanted to feel out if I (and my availability) would be a good fit, they were also intentional about prompting me to think about if they would be a good fit for me.
I do not remember the exact questions asked.
