After turning in an application in person, I was called the next day to set up an interview.
I arrived to my interview 10 minutes ahead of time and was told to check out the store and they will find me. Well I walked around for 25 minutes and was finally greeted to start the interview.
I followed the employee to the loading dock where they set out folding chairs to sit on. I was interviewed by 2 Mates.
I was asked 3-4 questions and the interview lasted 10 minutes. They seemed friendly but for Trader Joe's laid back atmosphere, they seemed way too laidback.
I was told they have a bunch more applicants to go through and I will receive a call the next day about round 2.
Didn't get the job. College educated, 7+ years experience in service and avid TJs shopper. Good luck!

It's two to three interviews, the final with the Captain (or highest manager) of the store. The interviews are largely to get to know your personality and how well you would do at customer service.
The interview process was absolutely wonderful! I didn't feel stressed or nervous and it felt like I was just chatting with a friend! Trader Joes is a great company and the interview was great.

Very chill, asked things a lot of job interviews don't, more personal down to earth questions. Made me feel very comfortable. Professional but also cool vibes from everyone who interviewed me. Went to one interview with mates and another with the captain.
