Another review that further confirms what everyone else is saying. The recruiter who interviewed me was grossly unprofessional. Recruiters should act as the face of the company and be truly reflective of the company values. Unfortunately, this one was not. They were completely abrasive and condescending in the way they spoke. Interviews are two sided conversations. It's not the candidate doing circus tricks in a try out. This interview felt like I was going through a really fast drill. Other reviews said this, and I am confirming it with my experience : 1. Recruiter is robotic and difficult to connect with--yes I genuinely wanted to know what their experience was like working at toast and they gave me some low effort disingenuous answer. Reviews about difficulty connecting is definitely true. 2. Condescending--yes They devalued my work experience even though I was well qualified for the role and my role before was practically identical. Overall tone was "impress me", "do this" (in a snappy way) type of attitude. No way was this a valuable conversation at all. 3. Reading a script--yes It felt like they were reading through something really quickly and was like MOVE! MOVE! MOVE! I thought I was running through fire. I normally send Thank You notes to the interviewers after the calls. Since this person rudely told me, "If you get there you'll get the info before" when I asked about the interview protocols, I did not want to waste my time writing a thank you email because I instantly knew they already passed on me based on the way they spoke me. Sure enough, I got the automated rejection email within 24 hours. One more thing for recruiters: make sure you are direct when you ask questions. Don't ask questions that are disguised as other questions! People have different communication styles and can misunderstand what you are asking, hence not giving you the insight you are looking for. Best to be direct. I have hiring experience and I saw right through this sneaky tactic! Glad to be rejected from this, I don't think it would've been good to continue interviewing. Someone else said decide carefully if you want to proceed further and I have to agree.

Went through 4 rounds: recruiter, manager, a demo/roleplay with another manager, and finally a VP. The recruiting team was awesome, they stayed in touch the whole time and gave me a clear heads-up on what to expect for each stage. The interviews themselves felt natural but challenging; they really dig into your sales process and how you handle feedback.

I applied online and got an interview request within about two weeks and a recruiter called me and kind of just talked to me about the job and essentially let me know that it was a heavy sales Account Executive job. Although it was internal customers, you would be required to close 30 some odd ideas per month. I’m not really interested in pursuing a full-blown sales job in addition to her mentioning that the base pay was $55,000 with OTE up to $180,000. This was an interview conducted for the Dallas Texas region.

First round was a typical phone screen with company recruiter. Explain your resume/experiences, why Toast, what you know about Toast, etc. Standard first round interview, nothing too insane to prepare for. Mainly screening for personality and assumed capability to perform in role. Felt overall very conversational, recruiter was very pleasent to speak with. Second round was with a sales manager. Interview was definitely much more interesting than the first, I could tell his attention was divided (maybe not to his own fault) but didn't feel like he was super invested in it. Was told several times throughout interview by him that he was simply reading off a list of provided questions and selecting them at random. Was hard to get into any flow or conversation, maybe that is by design. A lot of the questions I was told to NOT give a professional answer as an example but instead use a personal accomplishment, something I thought to be interesting for a somewhat experience-required sales role. I did not advance in the process, but I was told the third round would be a panel interview and then the fourth and final would be with a VP or regional sales direction.
