      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez TikTok (San Francisco, CA) en mars 2021

      Entretien

The talent acquisition team was friendly and responsive. I was scheduled to have my final round interview at 8pm (due to interviewer being in Beijing) and I checked the interview link 15 minutes before to make sure things were good to go. The link was expired. I flagged to the recruiter who responded promptly that they were having issues and would get back to me. Sure, no problem, technical issues happen all the time. I waited in limbo for the next 2 hours until I called it a night. I was then met the next morning with an email that the process would not be moving forward. I saw someone else experienced the 'expired link' situation, so I'm inclined to think this wasn't an accident. This was a very discouraging way to end a 3 week long process, where I poured many hours into prep, practice, and the interviews themselves. The interviewers were distracted and seemingly disinterested in my responses. Consistent typing while I was talking (clearly not taking notes) and consistent mouse clicking (again, clearly not taking notes). Typically, the interviewer's body language, facial expression, etc. can be used as indicators as to how well you are answering the question, but in this case there was none of that. There was no real back and forth conversation, just me talking until silence. 5 total rounds. Recruiter screen, 45 min. with hiring manager, SQL test, 45 min. with Product Leader, 45 min. with Product Leader. It was an intense 45 minutes each time. Lots of critical thinking, problem solving / case study type of questions. It was one of the harder sequence of interviews I've experienced.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Lots of focus around metrics and 'what metrics would you use to measure ____.' Measure revenue / user and compare it to Instagram. What hardware should TikTok invest in? What is your favorite app? What is the revenue ceiling for ads? How would you calculate lifetime value of an advertiser? Why TikTok?
