The process was 7 interviews and a final call with HR. So eight interactions in total! The recruiter was a godsend, she was timely, personable, and engaged! But the interviewers were lackluster! They mostly asked the same questions every single round. For seven rounds. They were bland, unengaged, and uninspiring. Most notably, the position was for a Latin America role with mostly Spanish speaking users. I had a panel of 6 non-people of color, and one person of color judging my candidacy for a position in communities that is mostly and exclusively people of color in countries of the global south. Additionally, I was never interviewed in Spanish? But I was interviewed by team members in Europe... Which, like, is fishy. To say the least. Was the experience worth seven interviews? No. Big takeaway: don’t waste your time explaining to seven White people why should given an opportunity to work for your community. The end result will surely be negative.
