Talked to recruitment vendor, then submission. Client wanted to interview me after a few days. First round I interviewed with hiring manager and one designer. Went fine as I was moved on to the final round, but they were winging it, didn't know where I was located, and did not give the impression they went over my resume and portfolio.
Second (final) round interview with the frontend engineer and product owner is where it became awkward and raised immediate red flags. The frontend engineer came onto the call first and quickly admitted he didn't know who I was, nor had he looked at my resume or work – first red flag. The Product Owner joined the meeting about five minutes late and showed little interest in engaging with me. She asked no questions and spoke very minimally throughout. Based on her background and my experience in this industry, it seemed clear she had quickly dismissed me—not because of my skills or potential fit for the team, but because I didn’t align with her expectations for a DEI hire. Unfortunately, this prevented her from learning more about my experience and how I could have contributed. An extremely rude and unprofessional individual.
