      Entretien

This open day took place in NOTTINGHAM 22/7/24, by an Irish ex cabin crew recruiter. The selection is very random and everyone’s experience is different, so here is mine. At the hotel, there was about 40 of us that have come to the open day, about 5-7 people arrived late but weren’t asked to leave (worth a mention as a lot of people here have said that those who were late were sent home). After the presentation about Emirates and cabin crew life in Dubai, we were given numbers and were placed into groups of 4. For the group activity, we were given cards with a job profession, and as a group we had to come up with a key quality that aligns with the job profession, but before that we had to introduce ourselves, say our name, age, customer service experience and talk about the chosen quality. Important note, the recruiter did not even pay attention when we did group discussions, and just sat at her table scrolling her phone the whole time! How can you be a recruiter that doesn’t bother watching how people work in a team since teamwork is so important in Emirates. Then after the presentation, we were asked to leave for 10 minutes and come back, if our number was not called out we had to leave. To my surprise, majority of people who came late (about 10-15 mins), didn’t follow the appropriate dress code (e.g some had very short skirts), those who struggled to make a sentence in English, and also when introducing themselves, a lot have said irrelevant things that the recruiter did not ask for and didn’t explain the quality of the profession ALL had stayed and progressed into the second activity. Prior to the open day, I have done my research, I was super early, dressed appropriately and during presentation was confident and used “WE as a group” and not I…, I was eliminated on the first round, which I think is because I’m not a native English speaker but I speak English fluently as a native. I think the recruitment process was unfair, a lot of people who progressed into second round were quite surprised that I didn’t make it and said I’ve done excellent. So the only thing I can assume, is that the recruiter prioritised British people and also progressed those who would be no competition to them, but all those who spoke well and did well were sent home, spoiler alert - all immigrants.

tough process alot of people will be eliminated even at the first round, quite tough for a fresh grad with only 1 year of experience through internships to apply. Must be prepared to come with at least 2 years of jobs experience eventhough mentioned at least 1 year (to be safe).
