      Entretien pour Senior Product Manager

      Entretien

The initial process up until the first interview took only about two weeks. I got a call from a recruiter from the company, was vetted and then pushed to an additional phone interview with the Hiring Manager. After that, I was brought in for a face-to-face interview the next week... and this is when the strange stuff started. The interview was easy, but not substantive at all. I was brought into the very quite office (like a ghost town) and into a small conference room with just the hiring manager; which would be my would-be boss. He seemed very easy-going and gave me his history at the company. The entire time I was praying inside that the hiring manager would ask me any question that would allow me to distinguish my talents, experience and personality. I was confused because we obviously seemed to have a positive rapport, but the interview was so uneventful that I wondered "did I just basically get the job?" After the whole process, it became more clear that he was not interested in hiring anyone for the role... at all. Many weeks passed and nothing came of it. I was (and am) gainfully employed, so I took less concern of this and assumed that they went for someone else. However, every time I inquired, I was told that there were delays for reason x, y and z and that I was still on the short list; promising next steps 4 weeks out... and this is from the hiring manager! Very strange. After being on the hook for over two months, the recruiter told me that the hiring manager wanted to scrap all candidates and search again. By this time, I didn't really care, as the division seemed like it didn't know what the hell it was doing. However, it was annoying enough for me to write this negative review to the talented workforce out there.

There will be 3-4 rounds of interviews. The very first will be screening by the hiring manager. The second round would be with the project director; the next would be with the department's Director and then with the Client partner. If all goes well, the project director or the line manager will reinterview to set your expectations. The last will be the HR round, which will help determine if you are culturally fit for the organization.

A Recruiter reached out since they found my background and profile interesting on LinkedIn. Interesting that a contract recruiter outside of Teradata also reached out and was competing to push my resume through their channel. 1. Recruiter screening to ensure there is alignment and expectations of pay etc. I did all this over email since they wanted to move fast. 2. Phone Interview with Hiring Director. This went well and he wanted me onsite immediately. 3. Onsite Interview with Hiring Director and 4 other product managers (all individual). Overall was fairly easy with focus on behavioral questions and agile experience. I thought I did extremely well in the interview but I heard back after about 4 weeks that they chose someone else with more domain experience. I personally feel they were concerned I will leave soon after starting, since my career history has been 3-4 years max in a company.

Oh, where do i begin? Had a phone screen with a recruiter who had to fill out a long form with questions that she was not qualified to ask or assess answers for (questions on Agile, SCRUM etc.) So basically, I spent 1 hour having to state and repeat my answers as the recruiter's job was to blindly type this into their system when I could have completed this in 15 mins if this was an online form. Why such as inefficient method, you ask? Well, as it turns out this only indicated the nature of things to come.... The recruiter set up a Skype interview with a ThinkBig Senior Manager who mixed up the interview timings (ET versus PT), called me at an incorrect time (I wasn't available) and then sounded irritated when I called him back after a few minutes later to ask what was going on. He wanted to do the interview immediately (this is still all at a different time than was planned) , started shooting questions on my background (because hey, why would the candidate want to know more about the job requirements first?) . When we got through his questions and I started asking mine, he indicated that he had another call that he had to jump on (And here I was, mistakenly thinking an interview needs to work both ways :-() The recruiter indicated that I wasn't selected (maybe it was because I tried to ask questions about the job position??) and refused to provide any reason for this.
