I interviewed with TelyRx for a role that was clearly listed as remote or hybrid in Clearwater or Dallas. On my first call with their Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience Manager, I was told I was moving forward, and only at the very end was it mentioned that the role would actually be hybrid. I explained that I live three hours away and am only interested in fully remote roles. I was told that could be an issue, but they would check with the CEO to see if there was flexibility.
A few days later, I was told they wanted to continue anyway. I interviewed with the Chief People Officer and then the CEO. During my conversation with the CEO, she told me she had changed her mind again and wanted the role to be hybrid or fully in office, even though she herself does not live in the same country. She said she would think about whether full remote was a dealbreaker.
About an hour after that interview, I received a call saying the CEO had decided the role must be hybrid, so they could not offer me the position. However, they asked if I would be interested in joining temporarily as a contractor in the same role while they looked for someone local. I agreed and was told they would follow up after the holidays.
I then spent the next three weeks politely following up and received exactly one response apologizing for the delay and promising an update the following week. That update never came, and I was completely ghosted.
This was a huge waste of time and incredibly disrespectful, especially given how much everyone talked about culture and caring about people. I absolutely dodged a bullet.
