I received an invite to interview for TNT Crust. I was asked to request a time with Calendy and the 1st interview would be through Teams. No problem. Well I received 2 emails after confirming my interview date/time. 1 was an invite that stated “Please confirm the number at which I am to call” and a 2nd interview invite to teams. I set the interview up on a Monday, work full time, have 2 young children, and am completing a certification class. By Friday I was exhausted and went through my emails to see if my interview was by phone or video. Found the 1 email that said she would call me and decided to not put on makeup and wear my Companies logo hoodie. Of course, got a call 2 minutes after my interview started and she said it was a video interview. I apologized profusely but knew it was a huge negative with the company. My error on not realizing the interview was video but the process was confusing reviving 2 emails with contradicting info.
Tips -
1. Don’t read off a screen about what the company does when presenting the company to a possible new hire
2. Don’t do a video interview the 1st interview
3. Don’t ask the typical HR interview questions
4. Ask me to explain my background (I was never once asked to explain my skills and backgrounds)
5. Don’t have contradicting emails to interviewees
If you MUST interview in person on the 1st interview and you decide not to move further with me, then at least send a personalized email stating you’re no longer interested in me. It was very obvious you just pushed a button to deny me. I’m still a human being and took time out my day to interview with you and your company.
