A recruiter reached out to me via linkedin and put me in touch with HR. We had a phone screening and scheduled a phone interview. She was very pleasant and asked me about my background and a few behavioral questions. We set up an interview for the end of that week (because everyone was going to Cancun or something next week) and she wasn't able to confirm with me until the night before at 7 which I thought was unprofessional.
Comes the next morning and I go in for an in person interview with the director. From the start he was cold, which was fine I just figured he was hard to read. The first thing he tells me is how when he was my age he thought he was so smart and knew everything and that his ego had to be shattered in order for him to build it up. He also told me how he has 1st year employees giving him critical feedback and he's ego is so strong that it doesn't phase him (I thought okay why are your 1st year employees giving you negative feedback, why aren't your taking it seriously and why are you mentioning it..?) I started the interview very confident and calm but some of his questions tripped me up and I was borderline shaking by the end. I would give an honest transparent response's but they never seemed to be good enough, and I was repeatedly told I wasn't painting a good enough picture for him as to why I graduated college early or choose my major yada yada. He also used terms I used to describe myself and throw them back and say i'm using your terminology here and throw up air quotes, I felt like he was mocking me.
At the end of my interview I asked him if he had any concerns about my resume or me that would lead him to think I wouldn't make a good fit for the position (because at this point I was flat out confused I thought I did a great job answering everything but he was hard to read). He said he didn't have any but it was clear he hadn't even glanced at my resume before interviewing me. He then went into so much negative feedback and some more hard questions. He asked me if I've ever considered working at non profits and I thought really dude? I politely directed him to the portion of my resume where I worked at a non profit and explained that It wasn't what I'm currently looking for for XYZ. He gave more negative feedback about literally anything he could think of. We left the interview by him telling me he's retiring (I thought wow thats great for your employees) and that the person taking his position would call me for a second interview. He was so aggressive and abrasive, nothing like I've experienced, let alone from a male of his age (I was raised in a very respectful environment).
I got to the elevator and actually teared up a little because I was so shook. I really hope he doesn't see this and know he had that effect on me because I honestly think he would sickly get off knowing he made a 21 year old girl cry. I honestly don't know if they were going to call me in for a second round interview but I didn't give them the chance because I immediately emailed HR and basically said thanks but no thanks. I think their interview process is designed to see how much crap their potential employees are willing to tolerate. 2 good things came of this, I'm going into every interview with borderline PTSD from this one and will be prepared for mental warfare and the second is that the next time I'm interviewed by someone with this type of attitude I'll cut it short and walk out.

Had a phone screening and then heard nothing for months. Then had an in person interview and never heard from them again. Told me I would be moving on to the next round, and then never answered my follow up email.
