I will start off saying that the level of technicality of the interview was excellent. It started off with a few security related questions and moved towards infrastructure / platform based questions. While I might of had a one off experience, this specific interview for a position lined up perfectly with what I have been doing at my current employer for multiple years. During the interview, I noticed multiple times that the person asking me questions was minimizing the video chat and engaging in other activities while I was providing answers. I found this incredibly insulting and rude as I could tell I did not have the persons full attention as they would ask an unrelated question with their follow-up to my answer. Them doing this would completely throw me off if I saw them not listening or paying attention. The interview was less than an hour, and during this time there were at minimum 5 instances of the person minimizing the window, or alt+tabbing to look/work on something else. The reason I am able to know that they were not engaged, is because I could see the reflection of their monitor in the cabinet behind them. I understand people are busy in this day and age when it comes to cloud based services. But, tearing away from workplace obligations for 45 minutes at max and dedicating that time to be engaged in an interview is at least expected as a common courtesy. ---- I was given constructive criticism/feedback stating that I would of been a great candidate if I had experience in a specific subset of technologies. In all actuality, the subset of technologies I support in my current job is all I do. If the interviewer was engaged as much as I was, I feel this would of been communicated and heard.
