The interview process at this company could be better organized and more transparent. You'll likely encounter multiple interview rounds with interviewers who may not be fully versed in your background. The company prioritizes cultural fit over technical skills. Its flat organizational structure is explained in detail, but this fosters a close-knit, almost exclusive atmosphere where employees are expected to actively recruit and generate business. The managing director is referred to by a nickname, and the emphasis on using personal networks for business may blur the line between professional and personal relationships. Compensation discussions are delicate, as the company focuses more on its family-oriented culture than financial rewards. Career advancement operates on a point-based system, drawing comparisons to multi-level marketing strategies. Entry-level consultants earn around a base per year until they qualify for promotion through point accumulation. Career progression is not clearly outlined, and the four-year vesting period for equity may raise questions about long-term financial stability. Be prepared for potential "bench time" without pay if you lack an active client. The overall experience could be improved by a more streamlined and communicative interview process. Exercise due diligence when considering employment here.

Multiple round interview process, 6 to 8 conversations over many months. My sense is there are good, smart people that work at the company, but may have been laid off or burned out from other more reputable, consulting firms and found a place at SEI for various reasons.
Most of the interviews lacked substance or structure, and it was difficult to adequately prepare, as many reviews state. By the time I got to the final round with the business case, it was difficult to take it seriously or dedicate much time or effort into the company. I went through it for the practice.
Employees are required to interview candidates so it makes sense for them to have a pipeline of candidates. They string along to meet their internal needs. It’s not hard to see.
I did not get a good feeling from one of the seasoned employees, but the newer employees seemed great.

The interview process is lengthy yet thorough. I was told by interviewers that I was getting to know them as much as they were getting to know me and it's true- there were no surprises from the interview process to the actual hiring and working at SEI.

Question 1
What is your experience in the business development process? Are you comfortable building sales collateral and supporting the sales process?
Long! You encounter inconsistent individual preferences. 6-9 individual interviews. Always one hard hitter that doesn’t have a lot of personality. One objection by a single individual will end the entire process.
