      Entretien

Since it was during Covid, interviews were all remote and spread over something like 2 weeks. I had 9 zoom calls. I know from experience that after the pandemic the interviews are similar but packed into a single day (lasts the whole day and you usually go for lunch with the team). First you talk to a recruiter, and it's pretty casual. You go through your experience and might get some questions about your familiarity with the game you'd be working on (mostly from the POV of a player). Then you get an art test. It's quite substantial, but depends on the team and discipline. Mine took a month to finish. It's not really about speed (or wasn't in my case), at least within reason, but about quality and how you think. Then, you move on to talking to a couple important people at the company who are used to screening candidates. This step might be skipped but in my case I had to do it since I didn't have a referral. It was fine, but a little more serious, more focused on my skills and experience. Then you get to talk to your future teammates, the Lead and other peers in your discipline. In general, being a fan of the game you're being hired to work on is a massive plus. Employees here are proud and the more excited you are about the project the better. Obviously coming across as a starstruck fanboy is not gonna help you, it's more about being perceived as genuinely excited to be a part of an amazing project. All the interviews were pretty casual and the developers were happy to answer questions about the game and their process. I felt that asking them loads of questions kept things interesting and them engaged. Get ready to tell your story a million times so make it interesting. As an artist, it helps to have a personal project of some kind, it shows you love the craft. If you come across as a mercenary, or someone who just sees this as a job, you're toast. Supercell is the place where tons of people want to work at, so try to look excited. Honestly it is very much vibes-based. People are nice and upbeat and like what they do. I loved the game and had a personal project that was a perfect fit so I had no trouble getting through the interviews, luckily. The last interview is with the CEO, or it used to be. It's mostly just a tradition, he won't decide anything, as far as I know. It was pretty ok, mostly asking what I was all about and to answer any questions you might have.

The setting of the interview was relaxed and casual, which immediately helped me feel at ease. The conversation was direct and focused, covering the typical questions you'd expect in such an interview. What stood out was the respect and professionalism of the interviewer, who ensured that the dialogue remained engaging and productive throughout. It was a positive and encouraging experience overall.

Very long interview process compared to other places. Be prepared for 4-5 weeks after first interview. Not much else can be said, they're easy to talk to for the most part.
