      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé un entretien chez Superabound (Birmingham, Angleterre) en mars 2019

      Entretien

A very ostentatious and time-waste of an interview. I arrived on time and was made to wait in the waiting room, which quickly started filling up with others dressed in interview attire. I quickly realised that these individuals were interviewing for the same role, which immediately I found off-putting as what kind of company goes to such length to ensure candidates see each other? What is that supposed to achieve? I don't know whether they wanted to make the candidates more nervous or make the final successful candidate feel 'special' but I found the choice pretentious. We were then picked up by what I later discovered was the receptionist, who took us out of the original waiting room across the yard to a much-less impressive building, where we had to cram into a tiny elevator before squeezing into an even smaller waiting room. We were instructed that we would be met individually by the CEO for ten minutes each, and whilst each of us waited we would need to fill out some forms. These forms required little more than what I had already specified on my CV - aside from a question asking what my previous salary was. During my ten minute slot I was asked what I was looking for in a role and a little bit about my previous experience, however not enough in my opinion to constitute the meeting as a proper job interview. I made sure to ask plenty of questions myself however, such as the background of the man interviewing me, their clients, specific marketing questions etc. The CEO did not look very happy when I asked about the salary (even though I explained that I had to as I had been messed around with before and need to know early if it'll meet my requirements). Instead he jumped around the question by saying it was commission based, which immediately told me everything I needed to know - this is a sales role, NOT a marketing one, and probably one that will pay me peanuts. The CEO finished the interview by mentioning I would receive a phone call if I made it to the second round, and if I didn't it meant that I hadn't been successful. It is disappointing that a CEO who expects people from all over the country to pay for travelling to the interview yet can not even be bothered to provide them with constructive feedback, however I am grateful that I escaped working for such a clearly incompetent leader.
