J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Stryker

      Entretien

The first stage consisted of a 20 minute interview with two engineers, one from R&D and one from Advanced Operations (AO). I was given an instrument before entering the interview room and had about 10 minutes to look at it, think about how it was made/ what it was used for etc. I was given a drill bit for a neurosurgical tool. The first part of the interview was based around the instrument part, a discussion around materials, design and manufacturing processes. I was thinking aloud for most of this part and definitely was not confident about my answers but the interviewers were very impressed so I think they like to see your train of thought. The second half consisted of normal interview questions, starting with qs based off my CV but it was easy to lead the conversation where you wanted it to go. I was asked about my favourite module in college and then a lot of questions were focused on the module, also why I chose biomedical engineering, whether I would consider roles in Stryker other than the graduate program, and then whether I would prefer R&D or AO. One interviewer was very engaging and easy to chat to, the other was quieter and only asked a couple of questions. I passed this round and was put forward for a position in AO. The next stage was the Gallup interview, a phone call based interview with an external HR personnel. I did not enjoy this process at all, was very uncomfortable answering some of the questions particularly when the feedback on the other end of the line is extremely minimal - it's difficult to read whether they want to hear more/ found the answer interesting etc. My interview lasted an hour and 15 minutes however I know that other candidates got through the questions more quickly, which might show decisiveness and better preparation. They look for consistency in your answers in this call and do not credit modesty i.e. if you say you're not the best at something they'll believe you. I didn't get through after this round and was informed of this by email from a Stryker recruiter just over a week after my interview.

      Questions d'entretien [2]

      Question 1

I was asked what manufacturing techniques I thought were used to make the part, why those techniques would be used and whether I could suggest alternatives, what material the part was made of - what material properties would be important for the part, the difference between toughness and strength, whether I could think of suitable alternative materials, the pros and cons of each material, how the part would be used, whether there was anything that made the part different from a normal drill bit (there was an internal locking system), what the critical features of the part would be. Then was given another instrument that I hadn't seen before and asked what I thought it was.

      Question 2

Gallup: The call started with the interviewer asking me to talk about my work experience to date and then about awards that I have received. After this competency based questions were asked. Some questions were yes/no answers e.g. "Are you a helpful person?" Then followed up with, "Tell me about a time in the last week that you helped someone". Others required rating yourself: "How honest are you on a scale of 1-5?", then followed up with "Why is honesty important to you?". Others asked you to compare your competencies to others: "Do you consider yourself more creative than your peers?", followed by "Give an example of how you are creative". Other questions included would I consider myself as an overachiever, am I good at keeping promises, difficult problems that I have had to solve, how do I prioritise, how many hours a week I spend studying/ at lectures.

The interview process typically involves a multi-stage approach: initial phone/video screening, followed by in-depth, competency-based, or behavioral interviews with hiring managers. The process commonly includes skill assessments, team panel interviews, and a final, in-person or virtual interview to gauge cultural fit and verify qualifications
