After applying, you must complete a phone interview. After the phone interview if they wish to proceed with you, you will then meet in-person at their office location. The phone interview is more casual. They discuss the company and want to know what team you are interested in working with. They send a PowerPoint with information over the company and much of the discussion is over that. The in-person interview was more personal. You meet with a couple people in one setting and they ask questions and write down your responses.

The process was fairly smooth. I was first reached out through a phone call through HR, who asked simple screening questions, such as whether I was still interested in the opportunity, my availability, etc. After that initial call, it took around a week for them to invite me for an interview. The interview was laid back as it was conversational with no technical questions asked. They just want to get to know you--what you do in school, outside of school, hobbies, and interest. Two back to back interviews with senior managers with of the firm. Be sure to come prepared with a lot of questions about State Street and why this field/position.
